As much as I hate the tax, I hate the people who are stealing from their patrons... which is exactly what these people did.

I thought you were an 80's band, not a "We act like we did in the 80's" band?

Except you are wrong.the state does possess, largely, the same rights as the citizen. The state can run businesses. The state can own guns. The state can speak its mind. The state - generally - can do everything the bill of rights says you can do, except for that whole believe in a god thing. Legally anyway... anyone taking an oath in a state court would say otherwise. Also Citizens _ARE_ setting ... View More

Again, the police are not doing anything that everyone else can't do. You can run facial recognition software on people, you can hook up a radar gun to a camera and record people who speed past your house, there are very very very few instances where you can do something that the police can not. It's when they do something you can't do that we need to worry about our freedom because that is what ... View More

Ahhh - you see what you did there? We went from quoting Ben Franks and Orwell - topics about rights and freedom - to how it's gonna cost money. Now that I've proven it's silly to say that camera checkpoints are NOT removing rights or freedoms, we can debate finances if you like, but it's going to get largely esoteric when we talk about property values rising or falling based on area crime levels ... Except - no.K Mart, CoGos, and banks often film public parking lots, sidewalks and intersections. A guy in Pittsburgh last year claimed he was mugged, the cops used ATM footage to find out he hit himself in the head with a bottle. Not only are you watched by private industry all the time, that footage is used in court all the time.Your second 'flaw' in my argument doesn't wash. In riot situations ... View More

You know she was strutting around in her Frederick's of Hollywood outfit enjoying the attention from the reporter and his crew. They asked if they could get some pictures and she wore a huge smile..."No, no no! Look sad, we need pouty!"

Ben Franklin loved whores, of course he would be against cameras taking his picture all of the time. You don't need to quote him here, but if you really want to, read on... Let me tell you why this argument, whenever or wherever it happens, is always dumb.If we are talking about liberties and freedom the fist thing we should recognize is that you have the freedom to stand on a corner and ... I have no doubt that the Steelers would be in the Superbowl right now if Ben was healthy. But why isn't Ben healty? Because every team in the NFL knows that they can walk through the Steeler's O line and get pressure on / sacks on Ben. So they keep breaing up the line, which injures the few good players we have there, and they keep hitting Ben until he is actually too injured to play.Well he will ... View More

I just hope that whoever took over the place really liked Metropol 15 years ago...It has the perfect setup to handle lives shows and still pull off the dance-club thing after the shows or on off days. It has a back stage, a real VIP area, a decent kitchen, two bar areas and bathrooms that can usually handle a large crowd. If they avoid trying to be yet-another-dance-club and aim for making their ... View More

Channel 11's Alan Jennings reported that police have reason to believe that security guards at the club may have been paid off by patrons wanting to bring guns into the building.A former club manager claimed security guards allowed gun-wielding patrons to enter through the back door of the facility when it was called Club Mosaic."As high an amount as $25,000 is paid to security staff in order to ... Agreed on all points... and a few additions.1) Professional and intelligent security beat out "big guy" any day. I've been pushing for the city to implement some sort of bouncer certification for over a decade now. Even if it just costs $50 a year to get certified/update I really think bouncers should know how to handle a crowd, spot trouble, and handle issues that could involve the police. Hell, ... View More

Actaually plenty of good places, just not a lot of "big nightlife" - I still like Gene's Last Chance and I'll drink at Rolands (but never suffer the bad food service again) and Saloon is still bringing in a nice crowd as well.

I'm - personally - mixed on the place.I like dive bars. A lot. When people find out what I do for a living they always ask, "So what is the best bar in Pittsburgh?" If they see through my answer of, "Well once a year we have people vote on that very subject and this year..." I tell them the truth..."You wouldn't like the bars I like. I like them dark, a bit dirty, fun people acting just a little ... View More

Always sad to hear - these bars, if you ask me, are as much of a part of Pittsburgh as our bridges. They remind me of museums where you can actually go and learn something about the world before you were in it.Glad Geno kept it going until the end.

Wait a second here...As far as I knoew Fever never had any big issues with crime or any LCB fines before this... so if one idiot comes into a Chili's and starts shooting, is the DA going to blackmail them into closing too?
