Vinnie and I (well, and Scottie) were just at the Double Wide last week. I've been to plenty of "pet friendly" places (in Pittsburgh & in DC - which is very dog friendly) and the Double Wide is the best. They don't have hooks for the dogs, so you need to hold on or latch the leash to your chair (depending on your dog's behavior). And the items on the dog menu are only a few dollars (which is ... Jack's does not open until 11 AM on Sundays. It's a law, they can't and don't get around it.And, although Piper's is open at 9 AM, they cannot serve beer until 11 AM (I know this as I was there for a moderately early brunch on my way outta town a few weeks ago and had the law explained to me).Just more weird PA liquor law stuff.Back when 3 Rivers Stadium was imploded, a bunch of places were ... Sorry, I'm just quicker than Steve. And, that is indeed Mario's.I believe it has been mentioned in discussions here before that East Carson Street is a popular location for filming regular bars in any city. Nick's Fat City (pre-Diesel) has been on a handful of shows, including King of Queens. But, it does kind of freak you out when you see your regular stops being used on tv (and the inside ... View More

Actually, the Wegman's here in State College sells beer (I believe that has been mentioned in the forums before). It's kind of in a separate section, but it's a decent place to stop for a 6-pack. And, it's not so much that people come to Wegman's to drink, but if you stop by for some sushi or a hot slice of pizza (picture the food service area at the Robinson Giant Eagle or at one of the Market ... You know, shortly after I heard about Farrah finally giving into the cancer, I wondered who would be the third (the superstition that celebrity deaths always come in 3s). I never would have guessed Michael Jackson. He was definitely a troubled soul in recent years, so may he rest in peace.I'm not sure if I support the 24 hour news coverage while there are still people being beaten to death while ... Oooohhh, I never tried Theobroma - I'll have to make a point to seek it out (maybe I'll get a trip to Fathead's or the Sharp Edge sometime soon). If it's anywhere near as good as the Punkin' Ale (the Dogfish Head autumn brew is by far the best of the pumpkins), I may skip groceries for a few weeks in order to fund a case.

There will be arrests; crazy people will make the front page of the paper. That just goes with the economic summits - no matter what country or what city they are held in. One of the reasons I wear uniform is to protect everyone's right to protest peacefully - that's why life is better here than in backwards countries where they immediately arrest you or just shoot you for publicly stating your ... I absolutely love the DoubleWide! We were in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday and because the wait at the Hoffbrau Haus was 4 hours, we took an outside table at the Double Wide. I think the burgers there have gotten better since the last time I had one (in the months prior to my leaving Pgh, I was mostly there for brunch). And my husband, who has enjoyed many mojitos in ... I haven't had to hear Steve sing in almost a year (primarily because the band at the wedding reception was given very specific rules - otherwise I'm sure the money dance would have involved "Wait! Wait! - I don't know how to enunciate").But, Hammer, your brutally honest critiquing of Steve (even bothering to include that there are a few songs he does well) made my morning. How I miss sending ... View More

That's a shame about Shawn. And, no, definitely not the tanning place by Dee's. Do they even actually have tanning beds? The Tanning Room has a place at 10th-ish and Carson and one on the other end of Carson, kind of accross from the southside works.

There's a mini mart at 9th & Penn that I used to go to when I worked downtown (if you know the location, yes, a lot of the strippers stopped there). The owner - Shawn - was awesome. He had a record player and he & his buddies played obscure classic rock all day. Sometimes, you had to wait for him to turn the album over to be waited on. There were video games too and he had pretzels from ... View More

I was going to reply (saying pretty much what MomJo said), but I held off, wanting to see what sort of genius response would come from Steve. But, PennMac does have the best (Whole Foods is good, but pricey). PennMac has a few varieties of Danish Triple Cream, an amazing style of cheese!
